Gifts Received,

I'm not one to brag about the gifts I've gotten but I decided I'd do a quick post featuring some of my favorites. So here it goes:

I got a beautiful embroidered jewelry box from my boyfriend's mother, and a cream colored peacock  bangle  from his sister  Amanda. As for him he purchased  the purple picture  frame  and the perfume. My parents got me a cute fleece  blanket  and the book.

Zac Posen Spring 2011 Collection

Zac Posen is one of  my favorite designers. It's refreshing to see that his spring collection strayed away from pastels. Here are a few of my favorite pieces(:

        

    

Some Lush Items,

                      Me and my boyfriend stopped at the mall earlier to pick up some gifts for our moms(:

This is the wiccy magic muscles massage bar. My mom is always on her feet, therefore she always has sore legs and feet. This bar is meant to relax your muscles so I thought she could give it a shot.

This is the buttercup gift set. This was purchased for my boyfriend for his mother. It contains one butterball bath bomb and a bar of honey I washed the kids soap.

Monday Update #2

My boyfriend stayed late last night to help me make these(:

The holly leaves are actually green, not the gross yellow-y color they are in the first photo.

I want to learn to make truffles for the holiday party I'm going to on the 19th, but we'll see.

I've been home mostly all week, and I attended a funeral on Thurseday. Inside the program it had this quote I love:

"Just around the corner,  all is well"

Stocking Stockings,

One of my favorite parts of Christmas are the stockings! So I thought I'd do a post dedicated to them and what you fill them with(: When I got to age 14 my mother stopped using stockings and just filled cute little totes that you get at Target and Forever 21 for $1.50

Burberry for Spring 2011

If you keep up with lines you'll know that this collection actually came out about two months ago, but I would've felt silly [even sillier than I do right now] posting about it before most of us have even gotten our winter jackets out. But keeping in mind that some of these pieces [prefferably the leather ones] wouldn't be a bad addition to your winter wardrobe either here it is: My picks from the Burberry Prorsum Spring/Summer Collection 2011, try saying that 10 times fast.

 

As you can the main theme here is leather. If you think back to last fall [2009] you'll remember that when liquid leggings came into popularity, this season Burberry's re-vamped them with geometric cut-outs and on more matte finish on the black ones. I also like the pops of bright color is done through the accessories.

 

Some Cosmetics,

Here are some make-up items I've ad my eye one lately. I haven't done a make-up post in a very long time so I thought, why not?

Bare Escentuals Bright Now Kit, 39$

I've used the face powders, warmth, and face brushes from this line and really like them. I really want to try their blush and mascara especially.

Dylan's Candy Bar Lip Saver Stackable, 7.50$ I love dessert, so I think these lip balms are just right.

NARS bluch in Mata Hari, 26$

Bobbi Brown Long Wear Eyeline, 21$

I really want to try gel liner. I've always used liquid on the top and pencil on the bottom and I'm interested in a change. Also, i've realised no matter what pencil liner you get, wether it be Urban Decay or Cover Girl it still fades and smears on the waterline.

Too Faced Leopard Complexion Perfection Kit, 30$

I've always wanted to try these cute leopard blushes but I've never known which one to try.

Monday Update #1

It's Christmas time finally(:  I can't wait to go to parties and buy presents and bake, as lame as that may sound! haha. I found these picturs of cute Christmas cupcakes from zimbio.com.

But enough about that, I'm sure I'll post pictures whatever I end up baking. I ended up going shopping on black friday with my boyfriend. If you don't know what that is it's the day after Thanksgiving [An American holiday where you just make a huge dinner pretty much, its the third thurseday of each November] and all the stores and malls open up early between 12 and 6 AM and have massive sales like 50% off or buy-one-get-one-free's. I bought some necklaces for my myself, my sister and a friend. I also bought Where the Wild Things Are for my other sister on DVD.

Lately I've really been loving Combat Baby by Metric. It's not a new song or anything but I've just been listening to it non-stop.

Quaker Vanilla Creme Brulee rice cakes and Organic&Pure Peppermint Herbal Tea [I add honey to it, hence the little plastic bear] I've been an avid green tea drinker the last few months but I saw this on sale at grocery store and thought, why not?

Holiday Dress Guide

This is a holiday guide on what to wear for what events this holiday season.
Note: Towards the end of the post some of the pictures plaing are a bit messed up, just bear with me haha.

Formal Event:

These are some outfits you would wear to a seasonal dance, party, or any other event that would require more formal looking attire.

Bebe Knotted Peekaboo Dress

 Tip: Just because it's the holidays doesn't mean you have to stick to green and red.  Try "frosted" tones of blues or purple, meaning blue or purple with a silver-liek sheen!

Semi-Formal:

These are looks for something requires you to to look a bit dress-y but not completly done up. An office party or large famiy gathering would be good exampes of times one would dress semi-formally.

                                                                       Dresses both by Express.

Tip: Fabric is key! Satin-y fabrics are perceived as more formal looking. Use this to your advantage. Pair a satin blouse with jeans or nice trousers. If your going for a strapless dress like the Express one pictured above do it in a less fancy fabric like cotton or throw on a chunky knit sweater. This will balance out your look and keep you from looking to fancy!


Casual:
These are looks you may wear to a casual dinner out or small gathering of friends and family. Although this occasion doesn't require you to dress up you still want to look cute and have people remembering how effortless-ly stylish you appear(:

Tip: Dress us a sweater with a great pair of boots. Wear them with jeans or leggings or whatever makes oyu feel most comfortable!

Signature Scent?

Probably one of the most under-stated personal things about a person is their scent. There are certain smells that have a way of bringing me back to a particular time or place, and sometimes a particular person. This is why I think it was time for me to pick out a "signature scent" for myself so to speak. And believe it or not, it was quite difficult. I mean there are LOTS of smells I love, and that was exactly my problem. I love the smell of cupcakes but being known as the cake lady? I'd rather not, so the hunt begins. Here were some of my top contenders:

I love all of these perfumes but they didn't quite make the cut. I think when anyone sets out to find their perfect scent they have this sort of thought that people will know you and remember you by it, like "Oh, that girl that smells of [insert scent here]. She's amazing! Invite her to my next party?"

And as tacky as that may be I hade this vision in my mind as well. You see Princess smells great but is too common, pureDKNY is a nice fresh smell but its too basic; I want something I could wear any time of day. And Very Hollywood was on the opposite side of the spectrum it's a bit too nice to wear with jeans and a tee-shirt.

My final decision:

 Ma Dame by: Jean Paul Gaultier

It's described as: "Feminine, floral fragrance makes you feel fresh and alive. Ma Dame eau de toilette natural spray by Jean Paul Gaultier also incorporates notes of orange zest, sparkling rose, musk and cedar wood" [courtesy of: ulta.com]

I chose it because it was live-ly in the best way. The citrus scent isn't over-powering like many perfumes with the note are to me. It also has a delicate floral scent to it, but doesn't smell grandma-y either. It was fun and sophisticated at the same time. It's also nice to know I won't smell the same as everyone else I meet [hence why the Princess was a no-go] Over-all I am satisfied with my choice. What are some of your favorite scents?

Feline Instincts

I'm not much of a cat person, but when it comes to clothing I'm a bit obsessed.

Dries Van Noten Vest and Coat

Charlotte Russe dress and booties. I think the dress would be great for a holiday party, but I'll save that for another post.

Express ruffle skirt and faux fur leopard jacket. I like how the jacket is white instead of tan, and the fact that it's fashion forward and cruelty free(:
